Field of View Experiment

On Monday November 3rd, we carried out an experiment that detected the capabilities and limits of the Ultrasonic Sensor attached to our NXT Lego Robot. We were trying to find the furthest distance that the sensor would be able to detect a simple aluminum soda can.

By using a scale graph that Mr. Inskeep provided, we were able to accuarately record all of our measurements. First we placed the soda can directly infront of the sensor and then continually moved it further and further away until we pinpointed the maximum distance that the sensor was still able to detect the soda can. We then measured every 10cm from from the sensor and as far right and left as the can could go while the sensor still had an accurate reading. By doing this we came up with a graph that depicted the boundaries of our Ultrasonic sensor.
